2010 Recipients Christine Weight and Karen Weight

Karen Weight

Karen Cole Weight was raised in Salem, she has lived here for about 39 years. She has a deep love for Salern and those that reside here. She has been the crossing guard at Salem Elementaiy going on 11 years. She loves the kids and enjoys helping them cross our busy highway. Karen also recently served as CQ-PTA president at Salem Elementary for two years, and has been on the community council for the past three years, and a softball coach for the past 8 years. Currently Karen teaches water aerobics at the Spanish Fork Swimming Pool, she substitute teaches, serves as the Loafer Recreation Association Secretary, she is the second counselor in the Salem West Stake Young Women's Presidency. Karen married Sean Weight of Spanish Fork; they have been married for 19 and half years, together they have two children, Amelia who is 14 and Connor who is 10. Karen loves her family and enjoys her job as crossing guard. She looks forward to the new school year, seeing the kids again, and watching for you as you pass, honk and wave at the cross walk.

Christine Weight

Christine grew up in Mapleton Utah, she is the daughter of Arnold and Joyce Wilson of Mapleton. Christine is married to Eric Weight, they have been married nearly 31 years and are the parents of 10 children and the grandparents of 12. When Christine was 15 years old she wrote a journal entry saying that someday she would love to live in Salem. After moving around for 15 years, Eric and Christine decided to build their home in the beautiful city of Salem. Shortly after moving into their home Christine found her journal entry describing her desire to live in Salem. She is very grateful to live in this city of peace and be part of such a great community.
